The COVID-19 pandemic has meant great change across the country and affected our patients in many different ways.
Whilst we have also been under restrictions the team has adapted and been able to contact over 3000 patients throughout this season, with around 70% of those previously unknown to Focused Care.
Please find attached our interim report from April 2020 at the height of the crisis, with a full report due mid August.
Focused Care is now returning slowly returning to practices full time, and we intend to continue with face-to-face working, even with full PPE, but intend to continue to make the invisible, visible, especially at this time where social isolation and a slow down in services and the economy might make them even more vulnerable at this time.
In April, as part of their celebration of 70 years of the NHS, BBC’s the One Show approached us and Hope Citadel Healthcare to highlight our innovative work in Primary care done in the surgeries and through Focused Care . Many thanks to all those who were part of making it happen, were interviewed and especially to our patients who were able to tell their story so well.

On Tuesday 27th February the Focused Care Staff team came together to celebrate our first anniversary at a training day in Central Manchester.
The full team of 30 Focused Care Practitioners and additional support staff had the chance to meet and catch up, update their Basic Life Support skills, share cases and learn from others. Thanks also to Dr Ruth Thompson who delivered training on Mental Health.
Our directors Michael Oglesby, Dr John Patterson and Dr Laura Neilson were also on hand to bring updates and inspiration, and blow out the candle on the Birthday cake.
Many thanks to all our supporters over the first year, we look forward to many more to come.
Focused Care has won an award at the inaugural Greater Manchester General Practice Nurse Awards 2018.
Attended by our staff who are also Registered Nurses the award recognised the work of Focused Care in Oldham and its innovative approach to Transforming Services in Primary Care.
The Ceremony was set up to recognise the excellent work done by Primary Care teams across Greater Manchester. More information about the awards can be found here
